ICD Code

ICD Code – International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems

Our search for hospitals is based on the ICD code with its current version (ICD-10). The ICD code is the international standard Diagnosis tool for epidemiology, health management and clinical purposes and is maintained by the World Health Organization (WHO), the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations System.

The ICD code is unique and globally similar (e.g. K528.2 Eosinophilic colitis), which lets you find the right hospital for your illness faster, and which allows us to better support the communication process with hospitals. Therefore we recommend to ask your doctor for the ICD code of your particular illness.

About the ICD

The ICD is designed as a health care classification system, providing a system of diagnostic codes for classifying diseases, including nuanced classifications of a wide variety of signs, symptoms, abnormal findings, complaints, social circumstances, and external causes of injury or disease. This system is designed to map health conditions to corresponding generic categories together with specific variations, assigning a designated code, which can be up to six characters long.
